Is an Enduro Bike Right for You?
An enduro bike is a compromise, not a do-everything machine. It is the right pick if you spend most of your time on steep, rough descents and are willing to carry extra weight on the climbs to get there. It is the wrong pick if you primarily ride smooth trails or if you race cross-country, where every gram and degree of climbing efficiency matters.
If you are building or upgrading one, pay attention to model-specific standards. Verify the wheel size, travel, axle spacing, and hanger type on your exact model before buying components.
Once you have the bike dialed in, the brakes deserve the most attention. An enduro bike’s extra weight and speed put serious demands on stopping power, and the right rotors and calipers make the difference between a controlled descent and a sketchy one.
